Look beyond the hourly room rate
When planning independent or part-time work from a rental salon, ask how many room hours and supplies one client appointment requires. This is more useful than comparing an hourly rate alone. Around Azabu-Juban and Roppongi, treatment duration and room rental duration should be treated separately.
Create four cost categories
List room hire, supplies such as towels and oil, payment or marketing costs, and other costs such as travel. Separate included equipment from paid items and calculate the quantities you expect to use. Mark unknown costs as unconfirmed rather than entering zero.
Include setup and departure in room time
The SALON by HOGUGU website lists hourly rental at ¥1,400 on all days. Two hours from setup to departure would give a basic room-cost calculation of ¥2,800 using that listed rate. This is an estimate: check tax treatment, booking increments, the applicable plan and any extra charges against the current booking conditions.
Work through an illustrative appointment
Suppose your own service revenue is ¥8,000, room hire is ¥2,800, supplies are ¥500 and other variable costs are ¥300. The difference is ¥4,400. The service price, supply cost and other costs here are illustrative assumptions, not SALON by HOGUGU charges. You still need to account for your own compensation, fixed costs, taxes and other obligations; the difference is not automatically profit or take-home pay.
Compare the time you spend as well
Record setup, treatment and cleaning time as well as messaging and travel. The same remaining amount can mean different working conditions if the time commitment differs. Start with a realistic booking window and record actual time so you can review future bookings and your own pricing. Neither income nor client numbers are guaranteed.
What to confirm before the first booking
Check included equipment, free-use items, paid supplies, items you must bring, cleaning and restoration duties, and cancellation terms. Rental registration and spot-work eligibility have different conditions. Separately confirm that your services fit your qualifications, permitted scope and the venue rules.
