You can speak up during the session
If you would like gentler pressure or a quieter visit, say so during your relaxation session. Your preferences may change after the session starts. SALON by HOGUGU in Azabu-Juban discusses your condition and preferences when providing relaxation care. Confirm with the therapist whether a particular request can be accommodated.
Name the area as well as the pressure
People experience pressure differently. “Please use less pressure around my shoulders” or “This pressure is comfortable on my arms” is more specific than “strong” or “gentle” alone. You do not need to endure pain because you think you should. Stronger pressure or discomfort is not evidence that a service is better or more effective.
Check again after an adjustment
Ask for one adjustment, then give brief feedback such as “That feels comfortable” or “It still feels too strong.” If there is pain or an uncomfortable sensation, ask to stop rather than continuing through it. A relaxation appointment is not a setting for diagnosis or decisions about medical treatment.
If you would prefer less conversation
You can say, “Apart from explanations and necessary checks, I would prefer a quiet session.” This leaves room for essential communication while making your preference clear. Respond to checks about pressure or positioning and speak up if something feels wrong. A private room does not mean complete soundproofing, and a silent environment is not guaranteed.
If the position or face support does not feel right
Try “The face support does not feel comfortable” or “I am finding it difficult to stay in this position.” Ask the therapist before moving the bed or equipment yourself. Discuss whether another position is possible or whether the service needs to change. Equipment shown in a photo is not a promise that a particular item will be used for every appointment.
The same applies to dry head care
If you have been searching for a head spa or head massage, explain any preferences about touch around your head, hair or face. “I do not like a pulling sensation on my hair” or “Please avoid this area” gives the therapist something specific to discuss. Every request cannot necessarily be accommodated.
Prepare a short preference note
Write down three points: gentler pressure, less conversation, and any area you want avoided. Use the note to start the conversation, then update your wishes as needed during the session. If you are seeking treatment or symptom improvement for shoulder or lower-back pain, consider the difference between that purpose and a relaxation service when choosing where to seek advice.
Before booking versus during the session
Our first-booking guide covers information to share in advance. This article focuses on asking for an adjustment after a session has started, when the pressure or position does not feel comfortable.
