Lower Back Pain: When to Seek Care and How Relaxation Differs

If lower back pain persists, seek medical advice rather than assuming a cause. This article explains general information about back pain and the different roles of healthcare and relaxation services. It does not suggest that a salon session treats or relieves back pain.

Lower back pain has many possible causes

Symptoms alone cannot establish that pain comes from muscle tension or poor circulation. Consult a healthcare professional if pain continues, disrupts daily life or worries you. If tests do not identify a clear cause, discuss next steps with your clinician rather than replacing medical care with a salon visit.

When to seek medical help

Seek prompt medical advice for severe pain that starts suddenly, rapid worsening, or pain with fever or feeling unwell. Back pain with weakness or numbness in both legs, or bladder or bowel changes, can require emergency care. Medical assessment takes priority over a relaxation appointment.

Daily activity and exercise

Staying active within comfortable limits is generally advised, but suitable activity depends on your condition. Stop exercises that make pain worse and ask a clinician or physiotherapist for guidance.

Massage and relaxation services in Japan

Although “massage” is used broadly in everyday English, professional anma, massage and shiatsu in Japan require the appropriate national licence, except when performed by a physician. A service name alone does not establish its legal scope. Check the actual service and qualifications, and distinguish medical care from a service chosen for relaxation.

Frequently asked questions

Can the salon diagnose my back pain?
No. We do not diagnose medical conditions. Ask a healthcare professional about the cause of pain and treatment options.

Can I book while receiving medical care?
Check with your treating clinician and contact us before booking. A session may be unsuitable depending on your condition.
